The Story
Lloyd Bridges returned to series TV in 1965 in this CBS western created by Rod Serling (“The Twilight Zone”).
Bridges played William Colton, a former Union cavalry captain who after the Civil War resigns his commission and heads west looking for a new life. His journey crosses paths with a range of men and women emblematic of the best and worst in humanity. Introspective and emotionally complex, The Loner stood apart from the typical "white hat/black hat" Western entertainment of its day.
This 4-disc set features all 26 episodes and includes a bonus featurette, The Wandering Man's Burden: Making "The Loner".
Notable guest stars: Jack Lord, Anne Baxter, Bruce Dern, Burgess Meredith, Barry Sullivan, Brock Peters, Katherine Ross, Jeanne Cooper, James Whitmore, Beverly Garland, Jeff Bridges and Beau Bridges.
